Manitoulin, Day 5, Wednesday

And rain, it did. We got a real nice storm that night, but the rain cleared off in the morning and all we were left with was tarps full of water.

Here I've been helping Cindy. You see, she had this tarp full of water and it was dripping right outside her tent. So, I put a tub under it to catch the water. It's kind of like putting a band aid on a severed artery.

You can't even see her tent behind the tarp full of water.
That evening, there was a lecture in town. All able-bodied adults go, as well as the teenagers. The kids stay behind and there is a sand castle competition on the beach. This was the first year that the girls participated. It's rather funny, too, because everyone wins. The judges go about making up creative categories for the kids to win in. That's nearly as funny as the sand castles the kids build. The only rule is that the castle depict something Biblical. One particularly notable castle depicted Sisera. If you recall the story, Sisera take refuge in the tent of Jael and asks her to tell no one he is there while he rests. She makes him comfy and when he falls asleep, she hammers a tent peg through his head and kills him. Well, a very creative group of girls made a sleeping Sisera (with a towel blanket and other great props) with a tent peg in his head and ketchup oozing out of it. It was brilliant.

Shannon (our camper next door) and her depiction of Jerusalem in the Kingdom

The girls with their Jesus on the cross. If you look closely, you can see the thieves' crosses on either side of Jesus. They won for "Best Depiction of the Lord's Crucifixion" or something like that.
