Fall Hike

Every year our ecclesia has a fall hike. It's held in, well, the fall. This year we hiked the Hoover Park Trail. It was really more of a walk, being of nice, gravel trail through suburban paradise. My kind of hiking. It was around 2 miles and right now, my out of shape feet are feeling every step.

The kids got really excited about the wooly bears they found. Here, this poor guy just wanted to cross the trail. Is that so much to ask?

Apparently so. A small stick obstacle was added, but wooley bear made it through!

I'm a sucker for a weeping willow and a pond

Hey guys! I found another wooley bear!

What?! Wooley Bear!?

We took a little break at the half-way point. The kids ran around and played on the very steep hill at the side of the road.

The obligatory group shot

David scoring a ride on the way back. All that running around tuckered him out for walking.

After the hike, we always go back to someone's house where we partake of a meal together. Before dinner, David and the girls were looking over their new dinosaur skeletons.

David really wanted to show Aunt Margie the T-Rex.

Nate was totally tuckered out. Amy said he'd had a late night the night before and after a day of running/playing with the kids, he was out once he sat still.

Jack, our dinner host, played the piano and the organ for us. It was such a neat treat to hear him play-he is a gifted musician.

After dinner and our concert, the kids played in the leaves

We got home around 6:30, but I immediately put everyone to bed. It has been a long and eventful weekend and they were all tired whether they wanted to admit it or not. Tomorrow is a holiday, so there will be no co-op, but it's sure to be another busy day here.
