Night of the Moonjellies

This week we read Night of the Moonjellies by Mark Shasha. The kids really liked this book and I was surprised at what even Grace and David remembered. The book is about a little boy who helps out his grandmother at her seaside hot dog stand one summer. After the busy day is over, they (he and his grandmother) take a boat out onto the sea and they see moonjellies. The moonjellies are a Comb Jelly that reflects the moonlight and shimmers about the boat. We learned about the jellyfish, as well as the comb jelly. We also talked about Biomes, New England states and different animals found in the coastal waters. There were too many activities for us to put them into Ruth's notebook, so we made another lapbook, instead.
