A Visit with Granddad and Grandma Pat

The day after the Sunday School picnic, Granddad and Grandma Pat came to visit us. We celebrated Grace's 8th birthday. She's the lucky one who usually gets to celebrate her birthday with both sets of grandparents.

During their stay, we went to the zoo. The morning started out rainy and I wasn't sure we'd go, but it was supposed to clear, so we took a chance and went anyway. We dodged a bit of rain here and there, but in the end, it was a nice day and the kids enjoyed the zoo, as always.

"The Hat"

The zoo's clown car. Yes, all four kids were in there. No, I have no idea how they all fit. I can only surmise that David was actually sitting on someone.

Byron's mummy pose

I love these little guys-Poison Dart Frog, who really isn't poisonous in captivity because he is not fed the foods which actually make him poisonous.

It's a turtle race! Ready guys!? Get set...Go! Uh....Go! Hey! I said, Go!...

One last visit with the Jellies before they move...

We love this snake. I don't think I've seen him do anything else but this. But we still love him.

And here we cram four kids on to one carousel animal.

Clearly Grace has gone mad from the heat and rain.

Both boys lent their hats to the bears

Look Ma! It's a people exhibit!

The highlight of the trip-the carousel

Byron chose the Jaguar

David assures me that the turtle goes the highest of them all. I didn't have the heart to tell him that's because he's so small. Everything seems bigger.

And Ruth chose the snow leopard

The zoo's new train ride. Vastly improved from the old one.
