In Desperate Need of Organization

As most everyone knows, laundry is one of the least favorite tasks here. I suppose cooking ranks a little bit higher on my list of least favorite tasks, but that's beside the point. I am constantly under a mound of laundry, hearing very often "Moooo-ooommmm! I don't have any pj's! (underwear, socks, substitute the word of choice)". So, in an effort to win the battle against laundry, I have begun have all the kids put their own clothes away. The girls have been doing it, but the boys had been off the hook. Not so any longer. I had to make a few adjustments in order for the boys to put their own stuff away, though. First, I had to weed through clothes and keep just a week's worth of clothes. Nothing more. Any more than that and they can't effectively put away the clothes-it's just too crowded in their drawers. Next, I had to find a way for them to know where to put the clothes. That's when I thought of putting in pictures. I made up pictures for each kind of clothes they have and they can then stack their clothes on top of the picture. So far, it's working. We'll see how it goes long term, though.
