Field Trip to Sippo Lake

The girls are again taking a class dealing with Ohio history.  They completed an 8 week class in the fall and I thought they enjoyed it, so I set them up to take the spring class.  Now, they are focusing on later Ohio history (1850's on).  In class last week, they discussed the importance of the canal systems and with that in mind, we met at a local state park to go through a nice little canal museum.  It was nice and the kids were fairly well-behaved for a group of homeschoolers.  ;)  We had an enjoyable day and this time the boys were allowed to come along and take part.

After the tour of the canal museum, we took a walk outside to look for some early Ohio wildlife.  It was unseasonably warm for March-80* that day.  We did get to see a few things.

Along the path, the kids found a tiny turtle.  He was good for quite a bit of amusement.  Although, I was a bit concerned that he would go the way of the rabbit.  He really was quite a tiny guy as you can see by Ruth's pinky finger next to him.

Just look at that adorable little thing.  He was just too cute.
