Back in the Hospital...

Sunday, after meeting, David lay down on our row and complained of a headache.  I felt his head and noticed he was warm-not alarmingly so, but warm nonetheless.  He ate decent lunch (we had a potluck after meeting) and played with his friends without seeming too badly off.  That afternoon, Byron's sisters were to come for a visit.  We arrived home 15 minutes before they were to come.  At that point, I checked David's temperature and he was just under 101*.  I held off on giving him any medicine.  After all, usually a fever is there for a reason.  Because it was too late to reschedule the visit with Byron's sisters, we put David upstairs with a portable DVD player and the girls took turns keeping him company.  Chris checked on him at 3:00 (one hour after the girls arrived) and his temperature had spiked to 103*+.  Time to medicate.  Tylenol didn't bring it down much, so a few hours later (the girls left soon after 3, both not wanting to overwhelm Byron and because David was sick) I switched to ib profin.  This worked some, but not totally and it was clear that his breathing was getting worse.  We gave him some puffs of albuterol and while David said it helped some, it wasn't enough.  We decided that Chris would get David checked out at the Stat Care.  My mom sense said something wasn't right.  He checked in at the Stat Care with his oxygen levels at 89% and was quickly taken back (no hour waiting for him) and given breathing treatments and then transferred to the ER.  He was admitted to the hospital late last night.  The good news is, his oxygen levels are rising and though his breathing is still too rapid, he could come home as early as early this evening.  I'm not holding my breath on that one, though.  These bouts of pneumonia just come on so hard and fast!  He goes from feeling a little under the weather to full on pneumonia.  Poor kid.  :(
