Keeping Busy
It's been two weeks since the babies went home. Somehow, I've managed to fill my time. Of course, we had the visit from Aunt Sara, but after that, our summer Sunday School session kicked off. I'm teaching over the summer along with my cousin Amanda. We took last summer off, but we're back on this year, looking after the 4-6 year olds. Which is really a group of 5, six year olds. We're studying Hebrews 11 over the course of the year. In case you aren't familiar, that's the "by faith" chapter that lists out men and women of faith who died without receiving the promises from God. We're planning to study one person each week and talk about their act(s) of faith mentioned.
Since the babies went home, I've had 3 calls for short term "jobs". We'll be doing two respites-one in June and one in July and I'm watching a newborn baby girl 3x/week for upwards of 14 hours. She arrives quite early in the morning and leaves late in the evening. Her caregiver is a nurse who works long shifts. Baby girl can't go to daycare until she is 6 weeks old, so she'll be with us until nearly the end of July.
The girls are reading up a storm this summer and getting quite immersed in their swimming lessons (bwa! Immersed.) The boys never cease to amaze me with their inquisitive little selves and the totally ridiculous things they say and do (like scrubbing the van with a shingle just to "see what would happen"). They, too are enjoying their swimming lessons and I feel they have made huge progress this year.
Chris is working on assembling a trailer he bought for our trip to Manitoulin this year. I really don't like Bible School camping in a tent. He bought a multipurpose trailer that we can camp in as well as use to haul our gear. The kids are looking forward to camping again and Ruth will head up a week early to enjoy Kids' camp for the first time. (sniff sniff, my baby is growing up! waaaaahhhhh!!!)
