The Sort of New Bed Day

The boys, until yesterday, were still sleeping in toddler beds. While this was not a problem for David, it was becoming small for Byron. We decided it made more sense to give the girls' bunk beds to the boys and get the girls a new set. You see, Lord willing, we'd still like to adopt again. So, we were looking with an eye to the future on just how we were going to get 3 beds into the girls' room. While their room is not itty bitty, it can be a bit tight when we're talking 3 girls. Chris researched all our options and after measuring, searching, measuring and searching again, he found beds that would fit in the girls' room and still leave them some floor space and allow them to open their closet doors. It's a set of triple bunks in an L shape. They were delivered yesterday and so Chris, knowing I would just try to do the moving and setting up myself, took a half day off work. The delivery of the girls' beds came just before lunch. It was a driveway drop off, so we had to move the boxes into the garage and get the room ready for the big bed-moving. Also, in the course of time, we had acquired 3 toddler beds (at one point we had David, Byron and Miss A. in toddler beds). We have since found homes for 2 of the toddler beds and we have one left for a future placement.

The girls beds must first be disassembled...

And moved to the much smaller boys' room.

Yes, it was wall to wall here. Wall, dresser, one bed, second bed, wall. It made for an interesting setting up.

There is really only one way their room can now be arranged: The bed here as you come in and their dress parallel to the bed on the outside wall. Oh and we're still waiting on the mattresses we ordered-hence the toddler mattresses on twin bunks.

The girls beds-well, the beginnings. We were getting all ready to set them up and that's when we discovered that despite ordering 3 beds, they sent us just 1 set of bed rails. I'm not sure how they thought we'd contain the mattresses of the other two beds. Or head and foot boards for that matter....

At least we had enough to make one bed. Grace's mattress is just on the floor for now. Hopefully the parts will be here by next Tuesday.
