Solar Eclipse June 5, 2012
It was on a whim that we decided to drive up to Lake Erie with the kids to try and view the solar eclipse. We wanted to be sure and get parking, so we left in the early afternoon and picked up subs for dinner on the way. We were headed to Edgewater Park for the viewing and I was pretty sure that the place would be packed. It was packed, but not with people viewing the eclipse. Most people had no idea it was about to happen and were just there to fish, run and have a nice afternoon on a sunny day. We had hours to kill, so we made the most of it.
Lake Erie-looking rather tame on this day (The Edmund Fitzgerald anybody?)
I tell you what, I cannot get a normal picture of the kids. This one was the best and even so, Grace is trying to grab David's hand...
Hello, Cleveland!
Byron really liked the wall
So did David
Playing a little cards to pass the time until sunset with our homeschool friends
Some astronomy fanatics showed up with huge telescopes-we camped out next to them
And there it is!
The clouds moved in shortly after, but you just can't beat a sunset over a lake, you know?
