Day 4

Today was our final, full day in D.C. We'll still do one more museum on the way out of town, but we packed a lot in to today, too. We began our day, taking the Metro down near the Navy Yard. We had a nice stroll (the weather was gorgeous!) to the yard and toured the Navy Museum. We had packed a lunch today, so we ate at the park across from the museum. Then, we toured the USS Barry, where the kids broke all kinda of rules by flipping switches left and right on the bridge. I was so embarrassed when we left and I realized that was one of the rules I had neglected to read. I don't know why that Navy Boy keeping watch over the bridge didn't say something. We caught the Metro back up to the Mall where we had a snack and took in a little bit of the American History Museum. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to see a whole lot, but we did see enough to satisfy. Then, we hoofed it over to the White House (or rather several blocks away) to catch the Tree Lighting. Our timing was impeccable and we only had a wait a few minutes to see the tree lit, then we hiked to the Metro and back to the hotel. The kids have really been amazing about all the walking we've done. It's been a great week.
