Christmas Day
Christmas Day was so crazy this year, but on a whole 'nother level than it usually is.
Christmas Eve, it is tradition that we go to my parents' house for dinner, festivities and too many cookies. The kids had been looking forward to it for weeks. Then, the day was finally come. We headed down to Mom and Dad's (after playing many games of Monopoly with the kids) for dinner. Everyone was wound up, we had our prayer for the food, we got in line and Grace promptly threw up on the kitchen floor. Knowing that this was not the end, but merely the beginning, we herded everyone out of the house as quickly as we could. Grace was sick the rest of the evening and we had our Christmas dinner hodge podge that night. Everything was on the verge of closing for the holiday, so Chris ran out to the store for Gatorade (several jugs, as a matter of fact) and he located an outdoor Red Box so that the kids might have a couple of videos to watch to pass the time and take their minds off the fact that we were not enjoying a Christmas Eve with Grandma and Grandpa as thought. But, back to Christmas Day...
Gracie was recovering from her illness and Chris' illness was progressing. What? You didn't know he was sick too? Why, yes he was. Fortunately, it was merely (haahaa) a high fever and general crumminess. He got very little attention as it was, so had it been worse he would have been in a world of hurt. ;) We had a slow morning. After staying up until 11pm or so watching shows, the kids were pretty tired and managed to sleep in until almost 8am. We had a leisurely breakfast and cleaned up before they just couldn't take it anymore and we were wrangled into opening presents.
It was a very lovely Christmas, all things considered. We didn't get our dinner with Mom and Dad, I was too tired to bother cooking my dinner on Christmas Day, but we had so much fun. It didn't seem like it at the time, but now that the house is clean, the kids mostly well, this is all just a memory that I'm smiling at. Sort of.

The kids got Chris a Road I.D. for when he bikes. That way, if he gets hit on the road and he's bleeding buckets and unconscious I can at least be notified sooner rather than later. It's a small bracelet, in manly blue, that had all his vital information.
Grace and her Fire Ant glasses. They were just too cool.
Ruth, in her Snuggie, reading one of her new books
The twins and their new bikes and flaming helmets.
The girls and their new dolls. Grace was making this very concentrated face and she kept whispering, "My baby is sleeping."
