Cloth Napkins

For quite some time now, I've been thinking about using cloth napkins. We go through so many napkins with the kids being little and all. So, I quit buying the super cheap ones and bought nicer ones. But, we're still using a lot (though not quite so many as with the cheapies). That's when I saw a thread on the FIAR board about cloth napkins and someone posted a link for how to make them on the cheap. So, a few yards of fabric, a bunch of time and not much skill later, I have my cloth napkins. They aren't pretty, but they'll work. I got some cheap cotton fabric at Walmart and cut it in to 11x11 squares and then zigzagged the edges. Folding them under to hem means you lose so much fabric. I can get 16 napkins from 1.25yd of fabric that I paid a dollar and a quarter for. I have also decided that it will be Ruth's job to fold the napkins when they come out of the laundry! Oh and I'm not done sewing them all yet-these are just the first bunch from this morning.
