August

August was a supremely busy month.  We started with a visit from Granddad and Grandma Pat and several outings with them, followed by the celebration of Grace's 10th birthday and shortly after, a surprise visit (well, surprise for my Dad) from my sister and her family for my Dad's 70th birthday.

We held a surprise birthday party for my Dad at our house.  It was the first time my siblings and I had all been together in a very long time.  Part of that party included a visit from our former first grade teacher.  Funny story-my mother kept in touch with her all these years.  Shortly after we moved in here, they were having a phone chat as they sometimes do and our move came up.  When my mother mentioned where we were living, my astonished teacher said, "that's right next door to my older brother!"  And so, she pops in now and again to visit me when she is up to see her brother.  We asked her to drop in since all four of us would be here for Dad's party and we were delighted when she did.
