Day 4-Wednesday
Each day, the kids had a quiz that they could work on. It dealt with our Bible readings each day. The girls, knowing a prize awaited them at the end of the week, eagerly picked up their quizzes each day. David, finally old enough to participate, slaved for hours over his. Most days, he spent quite some time after lunch deeply concentrating and filling in his answers. It was painful. Really.
The tongue of intense concentration.
Many afternoons found Grace and her friend Rebekah, headed out to play together. They were fast friends and could usually be found in one another's company. If they weren't at our site, they were at Rebekah's or the playground.
David loved the beach. Despite warnings of leeches, he would not be deterred and every afternoon found him near and in the lake.
On this day, he saw something floating in the water and being a boy and therefore fearless of gooey things, he quickly snatched it and plopped it on the beach and declared, "Look what I found!" I tried not to scream like a little girl when I realized that 1. It was still alive and 2. It was a leech. /shudder/ I did want a picture, though, so I said, "Don't touch it! Wait! Let's take a picture. Put your hand next to it!"
